Chef Lee began studying Japanese and Korean cooking in the early eighties, beginning his apprenticeship at the now defunct Shogun restaurant in Federal Way Washington in 1982. In the mid eighties Chef Lee joined Nikko Japanese Restaurant in South Seattle where he studied under Shiro Kashiba, Seattle's most celebrated Sushi Chef. Chef Lee studied under Mr. Kashiba for several years before he and his wife introduced Akasaka as Seattle's newest Japanese Restaurant in 1987. From that date forward they strove to provide the finest and freshest Japanese and Korean dishes to patrons from all over Puget Sound.
Chef Lee draws from a diverse and wide ranging background of different culinary influences to produce signature dishes that meld both traditional Japanese cooking with those of his Korean homeland; and Akasaka restaurant differentiates itself from other Seattle Japanese Restaurants by offering several equally diverse dining environments in which to enjoy his creations. Sit in the comfortable and relaxed dining area, or opt for the intimacy of one of Akasaka's 6 custom built Tatami rooms. For large parties up to 40 or more Akasaka is happy to offer large, private banquet facilities for your accommodation, and of course the beautiful and inviting Sushi Bar is a sushi lovers delight — but you might want to remember to get there a bit earlier in the evening as it is a favorite haunt for regulars and is often crowded with a diverse and lively group of diners from all over Puget Sound who come to enjoy Chef's Lee's warmth and wit as much as they do one of Seattle's best loved Japanese Restaurants..
One thing is for certain — whether you are drawn to Akasaka for its Japanese Food, its Korean Barbeque, or just the experience of a truly unique dining experience Akasaka will quickly make its way to the top of your list of favorite Seattle Japanese Restaurants.
Akasaka Restaurant, located in Federal Way, is a award winning destination.
